Soldering night: patience over speed

The benches were quiet except for the soft hiss of irons and the occasional laugh when someone lifted a joint that looked more like a metal blob than a connection. Nobody was racing. That was the point.

We started with a shared checklist—tip temperature, flux, tin, inspect. Mentors walked the row and asked one question over and over: does this joint look intentional? If not, rework it. Speed without care just means redoing the same board later.

By the end of the night, every board on the table had at least one clean, shiny joint that the builder could defend. Patience won. And the next session started from a higher bar.
